To wrap up the end of quarter two, each grade level had a short awards assembly to honor our top performers, hardest workers and most improved in their core area classes. Congratulations to our 7th graders recognized in these photos.
National School Counseling Week is celebrated each February to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, February 7-11, 2022, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have and this special week honors school counselors for the important role they play in helping students examine their talents, strengths, abilities, and interests.
As all educators focus their efforts on improving academic achievement for all students, it is important that we recognize school counselors for their continuing efforts in reducing barriers to learning and in providing the support necessary for all students to achieve at the highest level.
We would like to thank our Middle School Counselor, Ms. Brown and her interns working with her this year, Ms. Cochran and Ms. Martin, for all they do for our middle school.
Congratulations to the CHS Wrestling Team for being 2022 Conference Champions! Also, congrats to individual champions Drake Muellenbach, Ostin Blanchard, Sam Koth, JJ Ksioszk, and Joseph Volz.
Congratulations Dance Team at State! The CHS Dance Team took 6th in Poms and 3rd in Hip Hop. Great season Team!
This year, in addition to their writing, the seventh grade have been taking on some extra challenges. During their brain breaks, they have been trying new things such as drawing, cursive, juggling and sign language. Many of the 7th graders have become proficient at juggling scarves and balls. Some have also made their own juggling balls from rice and balloons to practice at home. Also students used their signing skills to perform the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was amazing to see the excitement and Cougar Pride in the gym today as we sent off our Dance team to State. Good Luck, Team!
This week the 6th graders spent a little extra time getting to know three different types of books as Mrs. Rockelman and Mrs. Zocher led students through a Book Speed Dating activity in our Media Center. Students walked away with a new appreciation for a new genre, new author, and a new adventure.
Our 7th graders are learning how to navigate their new unit's simulation and make new rocks in 7th grade science this week.

The varsity dance team competed at Eastern regionals this last weekend and placed 4th for Pom and 2nd for Hip Hop! They earned their place at State for both routines!! We will have a short pep rally on Friday to help send them off to LaCrosse!
Students in Sixth Grade Science investigated chemical reactions, more specifically reactions that release energy. This reaction served as an analogy to the chemical reaction between glucose and oxygen which releases energy in the cells of the body during cellular respiration.
Before the Holidays, the Middle School Student Council organized a food drive to collect items for the St. Matt's food pantry. Students in 8th grade went above and beyond with their generosity and brought in the most items.

Our 8th graders recently investigated concentration and density of solutions using the scientific method to create a rainbow tower using the scientific method.
Last week our seventh graders in science were working toward a deeper understanding of tectonic plate movement. Students helped each other build this understanding by having a whole class discussion called a Science Seminar. They shared many ideas and practiced agreeing and disagreeing respectfully.
