Arbor Day is a holiday dedicated to planting and caring for trees. The name comes from the Latin word arbor, meaning "tree". It's all about encouraging individuals and communities to plant trees, raise awareness about their importance, and promote conversation.
The first Arbor Day was celebrated in Nebraska on April 10, 1872, thanks to J. Sterling Morton, a journalist and nature advocate. Over a million trees were planted that day!
Trees provide clean air, reduce carbon dioxide, cool our cities, prevent erosion, support biodiversity, and just make everything more beautiful.

🏀 Our 5th Annual March Madness at Campbellsport was a huge success!
(Yes… we know it’s April… but around here, the madness doesn’t follow a calendar 😄)
We had an incredible turnout this year with 150+ bracket submissions and over 60 students competing across three different 3v3 leagues. The energy, competition, and school spirit were amazing to see!
👏 Congratulations to our winners:
• Men’s Bracket Champion: 7th Grader, Samuel M, finished in the 100th percentile nationwide on the NCAA website — an unbelievable accomplishment!
• Women’s Bracket Champion: 6th Grader, Stephanie J-M, had outstanding picks all tournament long!
• Overall 3v3 Tournament Champions: The team of 8th Graders, Grady R, Carter M, and Grace M, rose to the top across all leagues and secured the 3-peated as champs! 🏆🏆🏆
Thank you to all the students who participated and made this event so fun. We’re already looking forward to next year!

American's Creed Day is observed annually on April 13 to honor the American's Creed, a declaration of American political faith written in 1917 by William Tyler Page, a messenger in the U.S. House of Representatives. His essay was judged the "best summary of American political faith" in national contest.

Last week, Mr. Merkes' Outdoor Survival class was visited by Deputy Behm and Nurse Calyn to receive some hands-on training, learning about First Aid, Torniquetes and how those skills can translate to the outdoors. The class did a great job and even completed a competition on learning how to apply a Torniquete safely and effectively.

On March 18th, Campbellsport High School hosted the 5th annual Career/Education Fair in the high school gymnasium. Prior to the career fair a business professional representing each of the career clusters spoke to the junior class members about their cluster of interest. At the Career/Education Fair over 60 local businesses and area colleges provided students an opportunity to learn more about the businesses and colleges. Students seeking part-time, seasonal or full time employment opportunities were encouraged to bring their resumes and complete job applications. "The Great Hunger" in Ireland, also known as the Irish Potato Famine, was a period of severe starvation that occurred in Ireland between 1845 and 1852, primarily caused by a potato blight that devastated the potato crop, which was the primary food source for most of the Irish population at the time; this led to widespread death and emigration, with estimates of around one million people dying from starvation and related diseases during this period.
The Great Hunger is considered one of the most devastating famines in European history and continues to be a significant part of Irish identity and cultural memory.
