School Nursing

Health and nursing services support students by managing health-related barriers to learning. Direct services are provided to students through the combined efforts of the district nurse, Fond Du Lac County Health Department, school secretary, designated teachers, and health room assistants.

The goal of the School Health Services Program is to:
- Coordinate and administrate nursing services.
- Work closely with families, students, staff and community resources to develop an appropriate health care plan
- Assist in developing a Section 504 Plan, or an emergency plan of care for identified students.
- To provide health education and employ strategies to promote a healthy and safe environment.

The District Nurse coordinates services through training and supervision of staff and acts as a liaison between school, home, healthcare providers, and/or community resources. Health services may include medication administration, health plans, first aid/illness care, immuniz2 Columnsation records, special health care procedures, and health education.

If your child needs medication administered during school hours specific forms must be completed. These forms can be obtained from the secretary at your child's school.
