* Feature: STEM Academy *
Starting with the 2014-15 school year, Campbellsport Middle School students have STEM as an exploratory class. All students in grades 6-8 will at some time during the school year be part of this new curricular offering.
STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, integrates principles of all these disciplines into a coherent curriculum. Students will learn the intermingled relationship of these areas, explore scientific processes, use mathematical solutions, develop teamwork capacities and have a basis for further exploration in the High School.
Some of the topics covered during 6th grade include electricity, drafting and hot air balloons. In 7th grade students will learn as they build bridges, water rockets and vehicles powered by mousetraps. Trebuchet design and fabrication along with CO2 powered cars highlight the 8th grade topics. Computer-Aided Design using the program Solidworks will play an important part of the 7th and 8th grade experience in these courses.
Campbellsport High School is also offering advanced STEM courses in electricity, Solidworks and digital illustration, and Project Grill to increase the foundational skills learned in middle school.
